The Sunset Runner bean has been grown in America as early as 1750, but originated in the mountains of Central America. It is a flowering heirloom bean with unique salmon-pink blossoms which can be used as an ornamental climber. It produces flavorful beans with a distinct flavor that can be used in soups, salads and baked bean dishes.
Love these beans

I used to raise these beans, first for the beautiful red flowers for the hummingbirds in the summer and accidentally discovered the beans. Over the years it has become a staple bean because when cooked, it is rich and meaty. I often use a smoked turkey leg cooked in with the beans along with an onion and thyme.

These beans are meaty and delicious. Especially good when cooked with fresh thyme and a bit of ham. But have tried the salad recipe with blue cheese and it was very good for a hot summer dinner.
