Good Mother Stallard is a family heirloom that has been enjoyed for generations. It is a sweet tasting bean which has a very full rounded nutty taste. This is a meaty bean with a granular texture which is great for soups.

These beans have long been a favorite in our home. We use them primarily in soups and stews. These beans, properly prepared, have a wonderful flavor and a texture that can stand out in any vegetarian or meat stew.

There's nothing like this bean for flavor, texture, and richness of broth. I eat them by themselves and combined with pasta, rice, polenta, quinoa, or just a plain piece of cornbread, and they make everything better. Yes, they cost more than ordinary beans, but you get to eat them for less than a dollar a serving. Well worth it.

As a bean aficionado, I have tried many varieties from different parts of the world and Good Mother Stoddard are my absolute favorite. They have a rich flavor with a hint of sweetness. Normally I never eat beans without some salt but I have no problem eating Good Mother Stoddard beans without any salt at all. I never imagined that I could just have beans cooked with water and that they would be delicious. Thank you so much for growing these amazing beans! I'm very grateful that I found your company.

Made up a nice pot of these adding only garlic and bay leaf as directed...salting only near the end. To layer in more flavor after they were cooked, I added a batch of garlicky sautéed rapini and a glug of olive oil. Simply delicious and so nutritious! Looking forward to leftovers and bet they’ll be even better after melding with the seasonings a day or so!

I love these beans! I grow many different types of heirloom beans in my home garden. These are by far the best I've ever tried. Rich, plump and meaty. GMS are the best beans. Our family loves them. We cook them simply, just garlic and onions while cooking. The pot liquor is incredible. I often serve them in a bowl as is (ala olla), topped with some finely chopped onions, salt and pepper, chopped fresh tomato if in season. The beans are also excellent in soup. They also freeze well, so cook the whole pound and freeze the extra with some of that heavenly pot liquor as a great, easy start to a future pot of soup.
